Your Canoe leader Assessment
- Large areas of open water that exceed the sheltered water definition, that are no more than 500 metres off shore and in wind strengths that do not exceed Beaufort Force 4
- Grade 2 (3) white water or equivalent weirs
They will include suitable river & open water journeys with real students to lead,
Your assessment will be a relaxed one where we will be looking at your application of strokes and boat control in real situations while giving you every opportunity to shine on the day with your group
Your Canoe Leader Assessment will look at your skill level as required to lead a group of paddlers in appropriate locations, on moderate water conditions and your judgement of the conditions and the ability of the group and to make the appropriate decisions along the way with the ability to modify your plans as required.

Prerequisites
- Canoe Leader training within previous 3 years
- Relevant Safety Training: White Water Safety & Rescue training or (or Rescue 3 Whitewater Rescue Technician)
- First Aid Award: Recognised 2-day First Aid within last 3 years
- British Canoeing registration Fee: £39
- Age: 16 years of age, or older
What you need
Your expected to present your self ready for assessment and have appropriate equipment for both your self and your group suitable for moderate water journeys on open water and river
Make sure you have your Log Book
Your Stamped British Canoeing LR Form
Evidence of your Training , WWSR & First Aid Certs
